Apple AirTag: The Solution to Missing Luggage?

Airline passengers complaining about their missing luggage is no longer shocking news. It has become all too common for passengers to discover that their bags were not even loaded onto their flights.

Airline passengers complaining about their missing luggage is no longer shocking news. It has become all too common for passengers to discover that their bags were not even loaded onto their flights. However, Apple AirTag may just be the solution to this problem.

In a recent incident, Sandra Shuster and her 15-year-old daughter Ruby were flying from Baltimore to Denver via Chicago. Upon arrival, they discovered that their bag was missing. Despite being informed by an airline employee that their suitcase was still in Baltimore, the AirTag that Sandra had placed inside her luggage told a different story. To prevent incidents like this, Sandra had purchased the Apple AirTag three months prior to this incident to track her belongings.

According to a CNN report, the passengers were travelling for a tournament and had two bags with them. One bag contained their clothes while the other bag held a lacrosse kit which went missing.

The United representative at the Denver airport provided them with a case number and assured them that the suitcase would be on the next flight from Chicago at 8:30 a.m. However, when this did not happen, Sandra called the toll-free lost baggage number she had been given. After being informed that her bag was still in Baltimore, Sandra knew that this was incorrect as the AirTag’s location indicated that it was at O’Hare Airport in Chicago.

After multiple phone calls and hours of waiting, Sandra was told by customer service that they had no idea where her bag was. The airline even went as far as claiming that she had the wrong claim number. Frustrated and desperate to find her lost luggage, Sandra had no choice but to fly to Chicago herself. Luckily, upon arriving at the baggage claim, she was reunited with her bag within 30 seconds.

It is clear that incidents like these have become a common occurrence, but Apple AirTag offers a potential solution. By tracking the location of luggage, passengers can have peace of mind knowing where their belongings are at all times. No longer will they have to rely solely on the airlines to ensure the safe arrival of their bags. Apple AirTag may just be the assistance passengers need to avoid the hassle and frustration of missing luggage.
